WELCOME TO A DEVIATION FROM THE NORMAL TEST PREP BOOK!
If you are reading this introduction, you have a serious interest on doing well on the SAT which is required for entrance into college. You are either a high school junior getting ready to take the test for the first time, or possibly you are looking to boost your score prior to submitting your college application. You already know that this assessment test is an admissions requirement for many colleges, and that your SAT score is a valuable piece of information that the admissions department at your college of choice will be reviewing during the admissions process.
You know that this test will take over 3 hours to complete, and that you will be tested on your knowledge of English, math, reading, and science. You also know that if you choose to take the optional writing portion of the test you will be scored on your ability to write an essay.
College entrance tests are designed to test your general knowledge accumulated in high school to gauge your readiness for a higher level of education. Therefore if you are serious about college you have been gathering this knowledge since the beginning of high school, right?
Fair warning #1: This test prep book is not about filling out all of the bubbles, making sure you have enough sharpened No. 2 pencils, and getting at least 8 hours of sleep the night before. If that’s ALL you think you need to do well on the test then this test prep book is NOT for you.
The brief questionnaire below will give you an idea of what track you are on.
Have the majority of your high school classes been taken with the mindset of you going on to higher (college level) education?
