About the Author

They are inside you right now! They are your bones, and they are helping to hold you up, keeping you moving, and doing all of the other jobs they are supposed to be doing. Bones have a lot of jobs. Here are some fun facts that you may not know about these fantastic parts of your body.

Fact 1: You were born with more bones in your body than you have now!

When a baby is born, some of its bones are not fully formed. Some bones are actually made up of several different bones. This is especially true of the bones in the head. As you grow older, some of these bones grow together and become one bone. If you look at the bones of a skull you can see where the different bones joined together to make one bone.
