For one wrenching moment, she knew she had no body. She could see the tears in her sister’s eyes, hear the sobbing of her women. The faint sweet taste of blood filled her mouth, and was gone. No pain, no panic, rather a stillness in which her mind whispered, "Ah, so it’s finished then."
