How to Photograph the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro

Don Mammoser

The Bay of Kotor is located in the small country of Montenegro. Montenegro is sandwiched between Bosnia, Serbia, Albania, and Croatia. The Bay of Kotor area provides endless scenic and 'Mediterranean culture' photographic opportunities. Ancient towns are perched at the waters edge and tiny villages cling to plunging hillsides. The architecture here consists primarily of crumbling brick buildings overgrown with ivy, where the roof of every building is made of deep-red or orange clay tiles. Old churches, cobblestone lanes, and massive walled fortresses will also vie for your attention here. Everything is backed by craggy cliffs, green mountains in all directions, and the pristine waters of the bay itself. Ready your camera!
