Looking back …
“Today it’s beautiful anywhere but here”, Britt murmured under her breath, as her mother rushed her to the breakfast table. It seemed that’s all she ever heard any more from her mom. Ever since her mom and dad divorced, their lives had come to a halt. Everything revolved around her job and this morning was no different.
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” she screamed at the top of her lungs. And about that time, her mom met her at the top of the stairs with that old familiar look in her eye.
“What’s come over you Britt?”
“What’s come over me? Well that’s coming from someone who seems to never be around anymore.” Grabbing her school bag, she pushed her way past her mom, knowing that she just lit a fire.
“Hey, wait just a minute young lady. That’s not fair! I work hard at making sure you have those clothes you have on.”
