WHAT A JOB!

My name’s Tony Trent.

A few months ago, while my cousin and I were playing in the lift of our granny’s house in Edinburgh, we accidentally found the Earth base of the Galactic Federation. Our uncle, Simon, the Commander of the base, had disappeared on a planet called Xavu 6. We joined the team that went out and rescued him.

My cousin’s name is Beatrice. She calls herself Bea, but I’ve always called her the Bean. She’s 11½, about 1½ years younger than me. She’s a skinny girl, but brainy.

Simon asked us to be agents of the Federation, because young people from Earth can sense the feelings of people from other planets. We went to the college on Yband 4 for training. When we finished, the other members of our class were allowed to choose their own careers, but the Bean and I were ordered to report to Obsidian, the Commander of all the agents in our sector.

“NOT NICE!”

As we turned into the corridor outside Obsidian’s office, the Bean checked her wrist unit. “We’re early, Tony. Let’s wait here for a moment.”
