The Sacred Sisterhood
The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley conjures images of the sacred sisterhood. The vision includes regal women in ornate robes standing in a grove of trees gathering for a ceremony. I imagine the women laughing and sharing their wisdom- birth wisdom, dance wisdom, herbal wisdom, healing wisdom, nature wisdom, beauty wisdom and so much more. Fantasy and history intertwine to create an image of feminine power and beauty. A sacred sisterhood consists of spiritual women who have something in common - beyond their spiritual practice. That could mean many things, but in general it means that these women resonate with each other. This group serves to support its individuals.
