Chapter One

Oh no,” Emily cried as she ran for the bus stop. “I can’t be late again.” She was so focused on reaching the stop before the bus arrived that she didn’t see the well dressed man step into her path. She ran right into him, knocking his briefcase and Starbucks cup from his hand and sending her backpack flying through the air.

Hey, watch where you’re going,” he snapped at her, shaking the hand that had been burnt by the coffee.

I’m so sorry.” Emily flushed from embarrassment and the exertion of running across the campus. She bent down to retrieve his briefcase at the same time as him and they smacked heads. “Oops,” she said, and stood up as he grasped the case. She looked over in time to see her bus pull away and groaned out loud. “My bus!”

The man quirked a brow at her. “Is that your backpack?” he asked, pointing to the black pack lying a few feet away.
