Draiocht Vale is unlike any place in the mortal realm. It is a place where a clear, sparking stream runs through a lush green valley. It is a place where dryads and nyads frolic merrily at all times of the year. It is never too cold or too hot. Untouched by man, nature’s beauty is unspoiled. A forest secret as old as time, none may glimpse its majesty save the Faerie Queen and her chosen ones.

Where dips the rocky highland

Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,

There lies a leafy island

Where flapping herons wake

The problem was this; the queen was old, even for one of the Fae. She knew her time to pass into the next life was nye. She grew weary with the slightest exertion, often retiring to her bower for days after calling upon the simplest of magicks. The Faerie Queen needed an heir. None of her nymphs would do for Faerie law dictated that it must be a mortal brought willingly through the veil. The queen could sense it was a girl child she sought, a girl on the brink of womanhood. A child that was still pure in body and soul. Her head began to ache and she lost her evanescent connection to the mysterious girl.
