Drinks Before Dinner
“Tim! It’s so good to see you, man! I didn’t think I’d be able to get you to come out with me!”
“Well, since Kellie died it’s been hard. But I think I’m ready to move on. The next round is on me!”
That was the beginning of what I thought was going to be a great night. I had finally been able to convince my best friend Tim to leave the house he had been cooped up in for the past six months and go out drinking with me. I know losing Kellie was hard on him – he lived and died for that girl. But the obsession he was exhibiting by becoming a recluse was disturbing. Now I’ve never lost anyone that close to me; hell, I’ve never even had what you’d call a real girlfriend. But locking yourself in your house and not returning phone calls or texts for days seemed a little wacko to me. With all that I’ve seen tonight, though, nothing seems all that strange anymore.
