Thus, from a consequentialist standpoint, a morally right act (or omission) is one that will produce a good outcome, or consequence. This view is often expressed as the aphorism "The ends justify the means.”

The sound of the rotor blades jump-started her consciousness. Whop, whop, whop. The noise grew louder, and then remained steady in volume. A helicopter, she thought groggily. As she lay on her back, her eyes still closed, Kira instinctively wiggled her fingers and toes. When all twenty digits responded, it was an immediate relief to discover she was not paralyzed.
