Dreadmill


“I am getting far too old for this foolishness,” she gasped to herself. Completely exhausted, the woman leaned over the hand rails of the treadmill, forcing herself to keep moving one foot ahead of the other until the dying seconds of the hour had vanished. Hope MacLaren had only been able to afford a non-motorized machine and she found it torturous to keep it going. “It’s like walking uphill pushing a wheelbarrow,” she’d told her neighbor who’d enjoyed a good laugh at her expense.
