All work and no play, so the saying goes, makes Jack a dull boy. By that criterion, Jack Fitzdesmond, a temporary office worker in Chicago, is anything but dreary. He plays, by his own estimate, perhaps 60 percent of his waking hours – even while at work – and he seldom retains a job for more than a week or two – little wonder. For Jack is 45 years old, and his favorite playtoy is a stuffed clown he’s owned, adored and occasionally copulated with since childhood.
