Interview with Chris Sessions

Published 2014-03-10.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper. Writing really helps me to relax as well as the fulfillment of having completed something. I would have to say, though, that my favorite part of writing is the opportunity to help those who struggle with same things I have struggled with.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything to me. If it wasn't for fans, there would not be writers. The success of a writer depends on the fans. If people did not read books, I would not have the opportunity to reach out to people like I do.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on, and almost ready to publish, a piece aimed for high school students that helps them with struggles they will face. It is a reflection on my past while using it to shows youth how decisions can affect your life.
Who are your favorite authors?
I do not have many authors that I am partial too. However, i do love Tolkien books. Aside form that, my favorite authors are writers of success books such as Shad Helmstetter, John Maxwell, and Stephen Covey.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend a lot of time studying. I thoroughly enjoy learning new things. If it wasn't for learning new things, I wouldn't have things to write about.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I find ebooks by browsing authors and titles I know of that I want to read. I also browse categories and genres to find books on particular topics I'm interested in learning about.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I remember very well, my first story. I was only 12 when i wrote it and not to mention it was a little corney, but that is what got me started in writing.
What is your writing process?
I generally start by knowing something that I desperately want everyone else to know. I then brainstorm on what areas I would like to convey to people. When I have a good idea on what I want to write, i make an outline then start writing. I generally will go through ten drafts before coming up with something that I will let peers proofread for me.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Tortured For Christ by Richard Wurmbrand was the first story I read that had an impact on me. It was because of that book that some areas of my life change and what inspired me to write Christian books.
What do you read for pleasure?
When I read for pleasure, I will read something that can be finished in one setting. I have many books that take 4-5 hours to read through the whole thing. When I get into the reading mode though, I will start a good book on success or personal growth.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer Kindle Fire. However, that is the only thing I have ever used so I can't answer accurately. I am very pleased with it though. It is easy to navigate and the resolution is great.
