Interview with Stilflat Shadow

Published 2013-12-15.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Erm as a first time author I don't know as yet?
Smashwords is freedom and and a sense of fulfillment. Nothing worse than thinking your work is not good enough or being told by an agent it's not quite right, you need to revise it.
Why? The readers will let you know what they think.
What a great learning experience.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Freedom.
What are you working on next?
Maybe a revise.
Who are your favorite authors?
Gosh what a question. Way too many to answer but I'll try JR Tolkien, JK Rowling for escapism, for scary Stephen King, fun Ben Elton, Classics Shakespeare
Unfortunately since kids I've not read a fiction book in years.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My kids, when they are up daddy is up.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Taking care of kids and occasionally the wife.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
As I've said this recreation area is still new and as yet uncharted.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes my real first story was a short about an amateur cup final in football that I was involved in and only sent to a few close friends. The focal character is a powerful manipulative being that is handled with care and distance by some of my friends so for them to see him in a different light of being on the receiving end of humor was a joy for them.
What do you read for pleasure?
I don't I wish I had the time. Working on it.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Probably my daughters' iPad when I get the chance.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
This is all new to me so still learning. Any ideas or support would be great thanks.
Describe your desk
It goes from the coffee table to the kitchen table to my lap.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Birmingham UK. An area re-knowned for historic inventors, writers & musicians.
So I hope it's in my blood or the water from Wales we drink.
As I said to a friend from Wales once. "We nick your water."
"Not until we've pissed in it you don't."
When did you first start writing?
I was a late starter probably mid twenties.
My room mate at the time told me I'd never be a writer and to stop trying.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My only book to date. It's like any other book about life in a parallel universe that you live in.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It's fun to get away from the real world for a moment.
What do your fans mean to you?
Again I didn't know I had any?
Smashwords Interviews are created by the profiled author or publisher.

Step into a parallel universe where snails are the hot item to bet on at the track and frogs are the great goalkeepers. Unfortunately, even great goalkeepers are no match for illustrious and selfish soccer club owners. Will the club survive or risk ruin at the hands of disengaged owners or will they sell to the chinese laundry man.
