Interview with Wayne Hoss

Published 2014-03-06.
How do you approach cover design?
I try my very best to create awesome Book Covers that I think will be appealing to my readers and informative at the same time. I like creating my own covers because I think it shows that I have a great imagination, Which is imperative to be a writer.
I have actually had readers like my book covers so much that they have asked me for a free Poster of the images to put on the wall at home. I have no problem sending the same to anyone reading this now. They can be seen at http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/waynehoss
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Bible and A Pilgrims Progress, because they inspired me to write my 2 books "A Sermon to Remember" by Wayne Hoss https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/waynehoss
Other than that, believe it or not... I do not read other books at all because I want everything that I write to be from me, exclusively and not accidental plagiarism.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first book at the age of fifteen years old, and as unbelievable as it may seem, my aunt liked the book so much that my uncle offered me his brand new corvette for all rights to the book. I of course declined.
I still have my report card from a teacher when I was in the forth grade in which my teacher Mr. Franks wrote on my report card: "James shows a marked interest in writing, he has a special ability in creative writing"
I began writing my first book when I was fourteen- years old, and continue to write to this day. I love to write. It is my favorite past time.
I have had my writing published in the Apostolic Flame, as well as many local papers, including the Judicial Journal that is publicized by the local judicial system.
I am a loan officer, as well as a realtor and a welder. I enjoy playing volleyball, racquetball, water-skiing, and many other outdoor activities. I am a computer enthusiast as well and have made many web sites, including Believers in Jesus at http://www.believers.freeservers.com
I try to enjoy life to it's fullest and most important of all I try to keep my writing just as interesting as my life. I am very hyperactive and believe this is why people find my writing so interesting, because my books are fast paced, continually progressing and never boring.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I wrote my latest book "Patent Ease!" because I have written several of my own patents as well as several for people I know such as the Pastor at my church, and a couple of my friends.
I literally read thousands of pages on how to write your own patent and save money, and when having my first patent checked by a legal Patent Attorney, who actually wrote one of the books that I read on writing your own patent application said to me "I am amazed! I can't believe that you wrote this all by yourself; I could not have written a better patent application myself!"

What motivated you to become an indie author?
A report card that I received when I was in the forth grade in which my teacher Mr. franks wrote "James shows a marked interest in writing, he has a special ability in creative writing"
What do your fans mean to you?
The world. Without the fans (Readers) we would be nothing. If they are going to take the time out of their busy schedules to read my book, then I am bound and determined to make it worth their while. I thank all of my readers for any and all comments about my books. I look forward to their suggestions, reviews, and even more forward to any and all criticisms. Because it is through their input, that we learn and grow, as we strive to become a better writer.
I was happy to hear from some of my readers in regards to a couple of my book covers. Some women have asked me to send them a poster of my book covers to hang up on a wall in their house. At first when I started creating my own book covers, I was very nervous, because even though the artwork that I made for my book covers were appealing to me, it may not be appealing to someone else.
I thank them for those emails, because now I can spend more time writing my next book, and less time second guessing myself and playing around in graphic software.
What are you working on next?
My next book, according to my next door neighbor and my sister in law, is sure to be a hit. It is titled "They Can Make a Soap Opera Out of This! By Wayne Hoss. It is a comical, yet true accounting of the strange things that always seem to happen to me throughout my life time. I have such bad luck that one of my friends upon hearing my next complaint always shakes his head and replies "Only you!"
