Interview with Jessica Danli Pang
Published 2014-08-20.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was 15, and I write almost every day. Writing is one of the things that gives me the most pleasure.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life! Life is an experience. Every day I can enjoy more beautiful things the universe has to offer; every day I can make a difference in other people's lives; every day I can turn a challenge into an opportunity...the possibilities are endless.
Describe your desk
It is a huge presidential desk; a piece of well-made old furniture. The dark wood grain with beautiful decoration around the desk is a perfect example of the craftsmanship of the past. I fell in love with its quality from the moment I saw it.
Why this book is called Wealthy Immigrants?
According to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website, “Canada is the land of immigrants.” We all have our own roots. No matter which generation of immigrants you are, your ancestors came from a country outside Canada. Together, we built this country from nothing to be a very wealthy country on earth. This book is about these immigrants and their second, third or maybe even fourth generations.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I had lots of life experiences, including many related to financial issues, since I moved to Canada. I also witnessed some of the many challenges faced by other immigrants. From the moment I became part of the financial planning industry, I knew one day I would write such a book so others could benefit from understanding these experiences.
Who could benefit from this book?
This book will benefit every Canadian resident, and anyone who wishes to know more about Canada before they immigrate to Canada.
What are you working on next?
I am writing the Chinese Version of this book. It will relate more to the Chinese culture and situation.
