Interview with Laurie Glass

Besides e-books, do you offer other resources for those with eating disorders?
Yes! Through my website, Freedom from Eating Disorders (http://freedomfromed.com), I offer a self-paced recovery course packed with biblical principles, helpful insights, and practical tips. The Christian Eating Disorder Recovery Course is designed to help people invite God's into their recovery, work through underlying issues, and much more.

I also offer sets of note cards with verses and quotes on relevant eating disorder topics.
Why do you write on the topic of eating disorder recovery?
I recovered from anorexia in 2003. Since then I've been passionate about sharing a message of hope and healing with those who have eating disorders. I recovered truly by God's grace, and I want to help others in their recovery so they can experience the same freedom I now embrace.
When did you first start writing?
I've written poems off and on since childhood. I didn't get serious about writing, though, until 2003. I had an idea for one poem, and God used that time to lead me into writing. I wrote 30 poems in five weeks. He just kept inspiring me, and I just kept writing. It was like he filled my heart and it came out through my pen. After that, it was a step-by-step process of learning the rules of writing poetry, how to craft articles, and how to submit pieces for publication.
Where have you had your writing published?
I've had poems, articles and various versions of my recovery story published in denominational publications including EFCA Today, Vision, Now What?, The Gem and Evangel as well as recovery and eating disorder sites including Finding Balance, Eating Disorder Hope, ANAD, Libero Network, Christians in Recovery and the Psych Central Weightless Blog. In addition, I've had pieces published in anthologies including Women of Passions: Ordinary Women Serving an Extraordinary God, It Happened by Design, A New Song, Come Away with Me, and Simple Pleasures.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Going the traditional publishing route can take years. People are suffering with eating disorders now. I wanted to get my message out quickly.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I believe that God speaks his message of hope and healing through me. There's no greater privilege than to be used by a Holy God.
What are you working on next?
I have ideas for more e-books in 2016.
