Interview with Catherine Elizabeth Lambert

Published 2013-09-02.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in 2009. I had always wanted to write a book but I didn't have the courage to until my friend wrote her memoir in 2008 and inspired me to write my own story.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I am now working on my second book, which is a romance novel. I feel pure joy when I'm writing because I get to see my imagination at play. To create something from scratch is exciting. To be in control of where the story will go.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean everything to me. My goal for writing my memoir was to help others like me. They are the reason I keep writing.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The day is full of new and wonderful experiences. I don't want to miss out on anything. My family inspires me and my relationship with God. You can't be the best person you can be while sleeping all day.
What is your writing process?
To write an outline and to stick with it the best I can. I try not to worry about anything too much or I get writers block. I just write, to get the meat of the story down first and then worry about the details later. I can add or delete whatever I need to later on as long as I have my foundation down first.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I like to get my hands dirty and work outside around the house, I especially love gardening. I read books from my book club list. I help take care of my granddaughter. I like to spend time with friends from church and I also do volunteer work. I spend many hours reading PIFs (pastor information forms) for the PNC (pastor nominating committee) I volunteered to be apart of and go to meetings on Thursday nights. I go to choir practice on Wednesday nights and sing in the choir on Sunday mornings. I lead a church drama class for the 2013 Arts & Music camp back in July.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks and Francine Rivers.
What religion are you?
I belong to a union church of Presbytery and United Church of Christ in Bowie, Maryland.
How old were you when you first met your husband?
Fifteen.
How old are you?
Forty-one years old.
