Interview with Nigel G. Mitchell

Published 2014-04-26.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing very young, like before I was ten. Honestly, I can't remember not making up stories. Even as a toddler, I would draw pictures with crayons of adventures and superheroes.
What's the story behind your latest book?
"Operation: Masquerade" started as a world-building exercise. I was developing a series of alien races, and one of them was an insectile alien race with technology based on genetic engineering. As I fleshed it out, I came up with the idea of a living computer. It occurred to me that such a thing would be an incredible asset to their enemies. The idea of a mission by humans to steal the computer came out of that.
