Interview with Remedy Murray

What's the story behind your latest book?
This book was written as gift for a young woman going through a tough time. Her mother and I worked together in a small auditing office and our friendship developed after I found her sitting at her desk crying. At this time, we really didn't know each other, but sometimes people walk into your life for a purpose and not by accident. I just happen to be in ear shot of the muffled cries. I walked over to her and asked if she was okay. Through her sobbing, she was able to tell me that her 15 year old daughter had tried to commit suicide because she and her boyfriend had broke up. Need I say we didn't get any work done that day, and I sat there and listened to a mother not sure how to help her daughter. After giving her a hug and saying a short prayer with her, I decided to write this book for her. I wanted to give the young lady some things to think about regarding her relationship. I'm happy to say that her daughter is no longer with that guy and doing great! I can't take credit for state of mind, but I feel blessed in producing something that could help a young woman make some healthier relationship decisions.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
When you make a decision to become a parent, it's your responsibility to be the best example for your children that you can possibly be. I'm inspired by the possibility of my children growing and being a better person in life than I was. It's not about a financial gain, it's about pursuing your passion and enjoying the journey along way. I've been writing since I was a teenage, but I didn't feel like my writing had a purpose until I became a parent. I've been telling them for years, that anything in life worth having is worth working for. Find your dream and work to make it a reality. I can't push them to pursue their dreams if I don't wake up daily and pursue mine.
What makes you an expert on relationships?
Honestly, I think we're all experts on at least one thing we've experienced in life. You're expert enough to know if it works for you or if it doesn't and that's what you'll get from this book. I don't have any credentials to back the words in this book other than my own personal experiences. Heaven knows I've had my fair share of heartache and I've made many mistakes; but I'm still standing. I'm still here to share my experiences in hopes that someone could learn from what I've been through. I created this eBook as if I was talking to a younger me. I wanted to talk to the young ladies and not at them and believe me there's a difference. I don't expect this book to be the alpha and omega of relationship books and I don't want anyone to take what I'm saying as gospel. If if don't apply, let it fly. However, if you find at least one part of the book useful for yourself or someone you know, then my job is done.
