When did you first start writing?
I first starting writing in 2000.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book was inspired by understanding that people need inspiration to make it through this life, especially during these times of social and economic uncertainties.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I really appreciate the freedom that I have over what I present to the public. My books can really reflect who I am and what is in my heart.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has increased my audience tremendously, allowing me to expand into markets previously unavailable.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is knowing that my work has been read, regardless of the criticism received, positive, negative, or constructive.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on a book centered around how to handle trials, tests, and sufferings that come in life.
Who are your favorite authors?
It is interesting that most of my favorite authors are deceased, writing in the early 20th Century. Included among my top favorites are Howard Carter, David Baron, Dr. J. Vernon McGee, Otto J. Baab.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My faith, family, and a forward looking to things that I would like to accomplish.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to read and watch documentaries on tv; spending time with my family as well.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I usually discover them by recommendation of others or by searching for a particular subject. I am very selective.
What do you read for pleasure?
I prefer books that have a slightly philosophical edge because they cause me to become introspective and examine who I am and why I believe what I believe about things in this life. Aside from these, I read Christian based books as well as poetry.
Do you remember the first book you ever wrote?
The first book I wrote, still in publication, is The World, The Flesh, and The Devil. It is a simple work focused on giving tools for Christian living.
What is your writing process?
I do not have a solid process other than I write when I am consumed by a particular subject.
How do you approach cover design?
I usually just wait until some image comes to mind that I feel reflects the book's content.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer the NOOK!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Book promotions online or otherwise have been most effective.
What do your readers mean to you?
I appreciate and am humbled by the knowledge of anyone reading my materials. Hence, my readers are important to my maintaining a level of quality and trustworthiness in my books.
