Interview with Alicia Katz Pollock

Published 2015-04-28.
What is your writing process?
As I use my own laptop to run my company, I find myself using all kinds of "creative" techniques to make my documents do what I want them to do. I figure if they save me time and give me control over my output, my readers would enjoy them, too!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I picked up my first "grownup" book when I was nine years old. "Firestarter" by Stephen King was open face down on my parents' bed. I expected it would be too hard for me, and was entirely surprised when it was easy to read. I've been hooked on reading (and Stephen King!) ever since.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Apple iBooks on my iPad. I actually got an iPad specifically because I love reading Neal Stephenson, whose books are over 1,000 pages each. I didn't want to buy them because of how much room they'd take up on my shelf, and they're so dense that when I would take them from the library I'd only get through 100 pages before having to take it back and wait for it to become available again. I tried reading Anathem on my iPhone, but only one paragraph fit on the screen at a time. So, iPad!
What do you read for pleasure?
Stephen King, Neal Stephenson.
