Interview with Shayna Varadeaux

Published 2014-01-04.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have always loved reading and once I got an eReader I browsed the free books and found some of my favorite authors today. I was noticing that the books I was reading were "smashwords" editions and I looked into it. It turned out alot of authors are self publishing so I decided to give it a shot.

I have been writing stories for a long time and decided to give it a go.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I like putting my imagination to the test. I am an avid reader and reviewer and I love getting lost in a book. I found myself getting into my writing like I was hanging in suspense which I thought was hilarious but it has been an adventure!
What are you working on next?
I am currently writing True Chaos, book 2 in the True Fate Series. Along with some novellas to go with it. I have also branched out and am writing my first YA Contemporary Romance. It is Untitled so far.
Who are your favorite authors?
Addison Moore, Nicole Williams, Amanda Hocking, Shelly Crane, and many, many more
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, blogging and with my family. I am a vocalist and bass player as well as a tattoo artist and all my free time is taken up by any of those things.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I browse and I look alot at goodreads and get recommendations from my peers as well as bloggers and other authors.
How do you approach cover design?
I hire out most definitely. I think even though it shouldn't be a book is more often than not judged by it's cover.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read YA & NA, paranormal, sci-fi & fantasy, steampunk, dystopia, contemporary romance & chic lit plus more I am sure,
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle, nook, and anywhere I can read really.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Texas born and raised I am a southern girl and it plays a big part in my writing. I am certain it always will. There's nothing like good old southern hospitality!
