Ironically, in order for me to focus, there has to be semi-chaos going on around me. I have the TV on, the iPod on, I'm staring out the window at my neighborhood, I'm constantly checking my social media sites on my phone and texting…but in between all that, I'm writing. Life gives me ideas and themes and I use it to influence my work. Sometimes I get ideas that have nothing to do with what's going on in the world around me, but I know the atmosphere helped it along somehow.

I can't remember the first one I ever read, but there is a story that sticks out to me. It was book about a parade, and I was the main character. My aunt Shirley had a book made for my birthday when I was four years old. It was all about me, my brother and my cousins and a big parade that was coming to town. I had to get to the parade in order to lead it, because it was my birthday. I arrived just in time in a helicopter. It was really cool. I remember reading our names in the book and wondering how that was possible. I think it was at that moment, that I realized people wrote books and made up stories. And anyone could do it. That was the moment I became even more intrigued by books.

Right now, simply offering my work for free on websites that allow me to do so, such as Smashwords and Wattpad, has been the most effective marketing. I also make good use of friends and family on social sites, to make sure they are providing links to their followers as to where my work can found.

My desk is perfectly set. Almost looks like it's on display for a furniture show. Outside of the urn that's sitting on the corner. Clearly, I'm not a desk person. I'm a relaxing in bed or on couch with laptop kind of person. Ask me what my bed looks like.
