Interview with David Weir

Published 2016-07-19.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I am a Nashville native. I've written since i was young. Its a natural thing for me. I think everyone has a gift in something.
When did you first start writing?
When I was a child
What's the story behind your latest book?
The Song of the Weeping Willow Tree is a powerful story poem that tells about a man's personal journey and growth in life as he keeps visiting a willow tree year after year. The poem is meant to draw readers in and make them feel like they are part of the story. In a way, they become the man in the story. My main intent is to shed some light in our lives through the weeping willow tree. It is a life lesson, if you will.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It comes down to basics. I'm just looking for an avenue that can allow me to reach readers and impact them in a positive way. But most of all, I love writing very much and I would like to keep doing it the rest of my life.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Simply exploring writing more and wanting to share my stories, ideas and poetry with readers
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have to say all of the beautiful things in life. My girlfriend, my family and friends and the simple joys of it all. Of course, a huge inspiration in my life too is writing. Writing is my passion. It's what I love to do.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
My favorite hobby, of course, is writing. But I also enjoy stuff like going to the gym or the park
What do you read for pleasure?
National Geographic or Peoples Magazine
What is your e-reading device of choice?
PC
What do your fans mean to you?
Tell you the truth I am still looking for those fans. I am a relatively new author and I'm just looking for readers! Fans, to me, mean everything.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Right now, I have met with limited success at just getting my stuff out there. Hopefully, in the near future, I will see more success. Now, I have self-published to some degree of success. Most importantly, I just want to give readers an extraordinary reading experience. I would like to have a positive impact on people through my writing.
