- LS: The Beginning

At first the writing still did not get me interested. However I got used to it. I think the style was different because the characters were different. I however did not fall for the characters like I usually do when reading Young Adult Fantasy. I think that there is too much focus on minor characters and I would have also liked to see the author focus on the supernatural element more. I kept asking myself who cares about this character get back to the good stuff. I also hated that I had no idea where in the world he lived. I wanted an area to reference to make the weather fit in my head. All of the characters are ridiculously rich in the book except for one. I almost feel like the author threw that character in to have a token poor kid. I did not enjoy that aspect of the book either because it made me even less attached to to the characters. If I don't like the characters then I usually don't like the book. Although I did enjoy learning about the characters special abilities and how those abilities related to their personalities. There are still several mysteries unsolved that will be explored in the next book. However I don't know if I want to read the next book if it is like this one.
