Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a rural area and spent summers even farther from the city at our family's camp. My childhood was full of gardening and tending livestock. My next home at age ten was rich with books and avid readers. I learned about the Back to the Earth movement and about The Crusades, astral travel and pyramid power. My mum provided wonderful examples of challenging the status quo. I was given a journal at age eleven an have written outside the box ever since.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind The Krown of Keter is a message that I hope affects readers as much as Shel Silverstein's Giving Tree .Today's youth are becoming alienated from the nature around us because of their fixation with technology. The Royal family in my story discover the uselessness of precious stones when they are hungry and the Quest illustrates how the children learn to put themselves in the place of the creatures and plants that are being destroyed. They have a safe home and full belly to sleep in while the life around them is in jeopardy if they claim their first wish.
