L. V. MacLean

Biography

I come from a long line of story tellers and journalists, and I worked as a local journalist for years. That was fun, but my first love is fiction.
Home is the eastern half of Montana, wheat fields and range land and small towns. I have a husband, two grown children, a lively grandson, and a superior cat. What more could anyone want? Just a laptop with a word processing program!

  • Summer Storm on Oct. 22, 2011

Summerfield is a reporter for a paranormal publication known by detractors as the "Woo Woo News", but he lives in prosaic Omaha, Nebraska. He doesn't expect to encounter violent storms and incursions of otherworldly beings and the battles and betrayals of their wars. He certainly doesn't plan on taking part in this, but he doesn't have a lot of choice about it. Not everything is quite as it seems on the surface, and not all of the characters are quite what they appear to be. The book is great fun, a delightful read, well-written by a confident light hand. I loved it!
  • The Servant Girl on April 06, 2012

Since early childhood, Eliza has lived with the princess, heir to the throne, as her companion and best friend. In this protected environment, she has even had training in the use of her magic talents, which might have gotten her killed in the outside world; magic is out of favor. But now she has been torn away from her royal friend by a war, and must find her way in the world by herself. She has to learn who she is, what she can do, and what choices she must make, while concealing her identity and her magical talents. It is, in a way, a coming of age story in a world of danger and betrayal and enchantment, and it is a delight to watch the character grow and become more than she was -- something that the author is particularly good at in her books. I'm always gleeful, downloading a book by Lazette Gifford, knowing that I have on my reader something I look forward to reading.
