Matthew Thayer

Biography

Matthew Thayer is an award-winning journalist who lives and works on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The former sports writer for The Maui News is currently the morning daily newspaper's Chief Photographer. He has won more than 60 state and national awards for his stories and photographs. His work has appeared in newspapers and magazines around the world, including the New York Times, Newsweek, People Magazine, Los Angeles Times and Swiss Magazine.
Thayer's interests include ocean kayaking, coaching soccer, surfing, golfing, hiking and mentoring other photographers and writers. He is married and has three children.
