- Beyond the Eyes
on Aug. 21, 2012
Beyond the Eyes was an enjoyable read. So much so that I am ready for the next book, Dark Spirits right now! Written by Rebekkah Ford, this YA Paranormal book focuses on the life of 17-year old Paige who feels like a freak because she receives premonitions. Her life is further complicated due to the death of her father at a young age and a mom who is never home. You quickly meet her best friends- Carrie, Tree and Matt(?) and the story takes off. One night at a local club, Paige recognizes some strange things are happening and she meets Nathan Caswell. Love at first sight is an understatement and her life is never the same. There is suspense, danger, romance, terror, delight, true friendship, heartbreak, nobility, love and loyalty.
While there are a few typos, the beginning of the book is somewhat formulaic, and the characters say "I love you" a whole, Whole, WHOLE lot, you cannot help but get wrapped up in Paige's life, love, tragedy, and triumph. Well written on the whole, you feel Paige's emotions right along with her and putting the book down will be a challenge.
I would recommend this book to those looking for a different slant on the usual vampire/lycanthrope/angel take on the paranormal, those who love a good YA novel and a good vs. evil adventure. Due to a small amount of swearing and some intimate scenes, I would recommend this book for ages 16 and older. Enjoy!
- Brie Learns the Art of Submission: Submissive Training Center
on May 22, 2013
Confession time: I wanted to BE Brie. Yep. It's true. I loved this book and I am so excited that there are other books available and forthcoming. I read it all in one sitting ~ page after page after page....loving meeting the Doms, learning lessons - some the hard way - and sobbing uncontrollably when Brie's heart was broken because so was mine. Then sobbing again in the end. If you enjoy erotica and BDSM AT ALL, you MUST read this book!
- When You're Ready
on Sep. 26, 2013
I love a good, emotion-packed romance and it seems I have run into a slew of them lately. Maybe instead of rating books with stars, I should start rating them with tissue boxes because let me tell you, this is at least a 5 Tissue Boxes Book!
In a nutshell, Clare is our spectacular single mom heroine. Mom to Maggie, her first husband Ethan, died of (what else?) cancer. He wanted her to go on with her life and prepared her as best he could, complete with a letter in a sealed envelope for "When You're Ready". *light bulb moment* Our hero is none other than player and ladies man, ER Doc Logan. They meet in side ER after Maggie takes a fall in ballet with feelings that alarm Logan. They meet again shortly after that and, well, the romance is on. I won't go into further detail but suffice it to say, after this point is where the tissues come in. ;)
Ms. Berg really did a tremendous job of creating characters that seemed real and like people you could relate to. She made them frustrating, silly, frazzled, loving, and kind. She paced the book well, keeping some of the story hidden until the reader is ready to see it. It was an emotional roller coaster of the highest caliber, a first class contemporary romance. I cannot remember the last time I read a book like it.
"Being a gentleman is highly overrated."
"Clare, you have noticed I'm a guy, right? Because if not, I can pull this car over right now and make that abundantly clear."
Tender and steamy...
"I just want you to remember it. All of it. In vivid, technicolor clarity. And that can only be achieved if you're sober. When you and I come together for the first time, I want you to remember every touch," I ran my hand up her arm and down her back, causing her to shiver. "Every moan."
And above all, had a Forever-type of Love...
"I wanted you to know, because you are the only woman I've ever wanted to share my bed with, or bring home. Clare, you are my home."
You absolutely do not want to miss this book!
