Time Is The Fire
by Alfed Alcorn
In Alcorn's version of Joyce's Ulysses, the main character is not Leopold Bloom and the setting is not early 1900s Dublin. Alcorn's protagonist is Leopold Bloom O'Boyle, and the setting is late 1900s Cambridge, Mass. O'Boyle is obsessed with time, with aging, and with how to live one's life. He encounters friends and colleagues during his day's meanderings who challenge him to find himself.
