  • Smashwords Style Guide on April 30, 2012

I'm working on a Mac and use Pages for my writing. Mark's guide led me through the process of setting up and converting my file to be meatgrinder ready and it worked very well! I'm excited to have joined Smashwords and look forward to adding more titles with the help of what I've learned here!
  • Titanic, A Search For Answers on May 01, 2012

When dealing with a disaster as celebrated as the Titanic it's important to be able to cut through all the fables and myths and half-digested truisms that have filled our collective "memories" of this event. Joe Combs does just that in this concise volume. "Titanic, a Search for Answers" begins by laying out the known facts from her size and build to her "family tree." Then each aspect of her short working life is examined. What is known to be true is laid out simply and with clarity. What has been speculated is identified and given its due. At first glance this may seem a dispassionate way of looking into such a human tragedy, but for my taste, having the hype peeled away lays the foundation for an experience of what has been perennially seen as a profound tragedy that marked the end of an era. This volume belongs on the e-shelf of anyone interested in Titanic, her life, and the death of her people on that cold April night.
