Life in Iran in the 1950s and 1960s. The immigrant experience in the western world. The death of the matriarch. How the family dynamic shapeshifts decade after decade. The scope of collective experience are what propels this novella, the first written by Persian-Canadian, Behrouz Mostaghaci. Equal parts tragedy, comedy and illuminating human folly, it is something many can identify with.
