Denise Shaw

Biography

My name is Denise Shaw and I am 47 years old (but not for much longer!). I live in Plymouth, Devon, England with my husband Stuart. My daughter, Eloise (Ellie) resides here some of the time, but also spends some time away on placement as she is training to be a nurse. My son, Ethan, is living in London with his girlfriend, Grace. This year, they both received First class honours degrees from the University of East London. I also have two step-children, whom I love as if they were my own. If you read my book, you will learn that we did have a lot of pets! We currently have one remaining chicken, Sybil, 2 cats and 2 rabbits. I I am quite an ordinary person, but my cancer diagnosis has led me to not fret quite so much about things that are not terribly important. I have also realised that life is short and it is my goal now to let the people whom I love and care about to know how very much I love them and how grateful I am to have them in my life, while I am still here to do so. You never know what is around the next corner, so let people know that you love them while you can!

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I attempted to write an autobiography when I was about seven years old. Obviously, it wouldn't have been a very long book! It was called something like, "The girl who should have been famous, but wouldn't be!"
What is your writing process?
I had kept notes and had been writing a diary which helped me to piece everything together and when I started to write the book, it just seemed to flow, I found the whole process very cathartic.
