I loved this. Perfect for women who like cats and want some spicy romance with a touch of the supernatural. It's so good, I can't believe it's free!

This is a great book for an uplifting afternoon. A Regency rom-com with a little depth. The characters have reasons for their attitudes and personalities; and the nature of luck is discussed, albeit lightly. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who reads authors such as Heyer; I enjoyed this more than Heyer's books.

Unlike other reviewers, I can't wholeheartedly recommend this book. In my opinion it needs more editing, especially to correct the verb forms, which really irritated me. However, I continued reading because I was wonderfully immersed in the life of the main character, and the depiction of Shetland; the author also plants seeds of possible conflicts later in the book. Without giving anything away, the pages flew by easily, but without the expected complications. (Whatever happens to the charity event?) The ending was a little too cloying for my taste. Nevertheless, I'll give this 3 or 4 stars for the author's obvious love of Shetland. By the way, I'm not a great fan of Magnus: he kept asking Jo to do things (like make a ferry crossing in a storm) which would lead to her feeling guilty and therefore apologising to him. He was always putting her in the wrong. My opinion: he's a control freak; maybe that's why his wife left!
