My review from Goodreads listed below. SLAVE TO LOVE BY NIKITA BLACK My thoughts on this book started with WOW and ended with “A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.” I hope that peaks your interest… This was a GREAT story. I have it in e-book form but I’m going to look into getting the paper copy so I can display it on my KEEPER shelves. That’s how much I loved it. An autographed copy would be awesome ! I came across this author in her short story BINDING HER HEART in the Wedding Favors Anthology, and liked her style of writing. I decided then to look for other books by her and DAM I am glad I did. There was no skimping on this book. I appreciated all 30 chapters. There are too many Erotica books that are more like short stories than full blown novels. They almost always feel rushed, not this book though. All the other reviewers did a great job of describing this plot so I’m just going with my feeling on it instead. I’ve read romance novels so I understand how they go…Happily Ever After…. I’ve read suspense/mystery so I understand the edge of your seat < nail biting> ‘who done its’. I’ve read Erotica and through the incredibly descriptive hot sex in them. I’ve also read BDSM books and through the ‘Bondage is the ultimate act of Trust’ scenes. BUT I HAVE NEVER…UNTIL THIS BOOK…READ ALL OF THE ABOVE…IN ONE GREAT STORY!!! THANK YOU MS. BLACK, for this story and also for your explanation on the ‘riddled’ ending in your Amazon post Oct 9th, 2010. My mind wouldn’t stop going over it last night. I couldn’t wait to do some research to see if anyone else had the same issue and if it produced an answer. It did. The End.
  • Their Obsession on March 29, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. Their Obsession by Eliza Gayle This book was a good short read 81 e-pages though the end was too rushed. The plot was good enough that if it had been explored in a full length novel would have been more satisfying.
  • The Accidental Mistress - A Regency Novella on March 29, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. THE ACCIDENTAL MISTRESS by Kate Harper This story is about Sophie Hartwell and Lord Dev Roxburghe and how they meet. It’s a very quick read, about 50 e-pages but in those pages Ms. Harper does a good job packing in a Happily Ever After. A nice little historical romance.
  • Glint - an erotic short story on March 29, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. GLINT by Portia Da Costa This was an enjoyable 20 e-pages that gives you an understanding of Ms. Da Costa’s writing style which is very good. In these very few pages she tells us the story of a couple who uncovered their exhibitionistic and voyeuristic sides. This story did not feel rushed or incomplete despite its briefness. It was a nice quickie.
  • Private Paradise on March 29, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. Private Paradise by Jami Alden This was a nice quick read 139 e-pages. Ms. Alden as always writes an interesting story. I'm glad she finally told Carla's story and that it ended Happily Ever After. My only quirk in this story is the punctuation. There was ? marks all over my copy of it????
  • All I Want For Christmas on March 29, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. All I want for Christmas by Kelly Jamieson Ms. Jamieson is a new author for me and I like her writing style in this very quick read 61 e-pages. I will be looking to read more books by her. These novellas can be a great way to try out new authors and see if they are a good fit with what I like to read.
  • Let Sleeping Wolves Lie on April 12, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. Let Sleeping Wolves Lie by Tielle St. Clare What a good beginning to a new series that I’m so going to enjoy reading. This was a nice short story. It only had 9 chapters but it didn’t leave me feeling overwhelmed with the introduction of this new cast of characters. The story also felt complete. Sure I wanted to read more but there were no big gapping holes like some short stories produce in order to fit a beginning, middle and end in 100 pages or less. Dex and Maddock…what a pair. Maddock’s constant denial of what he wanted from Dex made me want to hit him upside the head…HELLO McFly! Then he redeemed himself to me by calling Dex ‘baby’ so sweetly (sigh). So satisfying to read when this happens. Darling and Dear just don’t do it for me in contemporary romance. I said no big gapping holes but there were a couple of things that left me pondering… -The Red Dragon tattoo’s were not explained though the question was asked and an explanation was to be forthcoming. I guess not in this book though. -Rhian a pregnant witch living with wolfs hmm… -Reese a blind wolf…I can’t figure out how he can run in wolf form since he needs help getting from the house to the forest… -Micah, mister I don’t want to lead the pack…I love the name by the way but at first I got it confused with Mikhel from the Wolf’s Heritage series. To repeat I’m looking forward to reading this new series.
  • Hour of the Lion (The Wild Hunt Legacy 1) on April 12, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below. Hour of the Lion by Cherise Sinclair With this book, Ms Sinclair has become a ‘go to’ author for me in the paranormal genre. “Yea though I walk through the Valley of Death, I shall fear no evil, for I am the baddest M-F in the valley.” This line described Vic Morgan’s outer shell to me. “Coffee and chocolate—the inventor of mocha should be sainted,” described Victoria’s inner girl. This story was wonderfully written and full (28 chapters) of characters and details that made me understand this new paranormal world. It made me want to continue reading this series so much that I immediately went and purchased WINTER OF THE WOLF. Vic is such a strong character in this story “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” And she has the quirkiest inner voice that on occasion comes out in the funniest lines…“Gramps always says people only swear because their vocabulary is limited.” Vic… “’In certain trying circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity furnishes a relief denied even to prayer,’” Mark Twain… The relationship between Calum, Vic and Alec was established through a one on one bases in the beginning of this story and continued through the middle of the book. Only toward the end did it, in my opinion, form a triad. There was light ‘tie-me-ups’ and Calum and Alec were definitely Alpha’s but the sex scenes though descriptive, were not written in the Erotica fashion I’m use to. I always felt there was something missing. Even the ‘gathering’ scenes lacked a certain something. There was this one M&M scene that sounded interesting and should have been explored….I would have liked to read more about the brown and green M&Ms…but alas they left it to my imagination. Despite that one weakness, this story as a whole was good read for me. Now my last quote in this book that I had to add…because it was that good. “Lord, look down on Thy Servant! Bad things have come to pass. There is no heat in the midday sun, nor health in the wayside grass. His bones are full of an old disease—his torments run and increase. Lord, make haste with Thy Lightning and grant him a quick release!”

  • Thor'sday Night - Paranormal Erotica on April 19, 2012
    (no rating)
My review from Goodreads listed below: Thorsday Night by Maria Isabel Pita This book was quite difficult to read. The writing felt choppy and didn’t move from scene to scene easily. That was my opinion by the end of the first chapter. By the end of the second chapter I couldn’t deal with dialog like…“She stops what she’s doing for a moment as she realizes with a shock that he will be the third man she has somehow helped undress, in one way or the other, in less than twenty-four hours. She has just finished chopping up the lettuce when she hears the bathroom door opening. She quickly sets two wineglasses out on her marble table.” Too many she’s. By the end of the third chapter I’d had enough and labeled this story a DNF.

  • The Dom Who Loved Me, Masters and Mercenaries, Book 1 on April 19, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed bleow: The Dom Who Loved Me by Lexi Blake I thought this story was good. This is the first installment in the beginning of a new series and it did a good job describing the premise of this series and the characters that I believe will be in the next books. I like when this is done in the first book because I can then continue reading them with some understanding of what to expect in the next story. This is a series I will continue reading. This story is about Grace and Sean and the twists and turns in their relationship. This book had the usual 'should I/shouldn’t I's in the story. This is what I call the the push me/pull you’ that usually happen in romance books. I compare it to the animal in the Dr. Dolittle movie that looked like a two headed gazelle/unicorn mix. It was well written, easy to read. The conundrum for me with series and especially the first book is that though this book is about Grace and Sean, it to a degree makes me compare Sean to his brother Ian and the other males in this story. I want to see Sean as the ‘dominate’ yet in scenes with the others he doesn’t come off as dominate as I would like. So how do I deal with it? I read them anyway.;)
  • Their Virgin Captive, Masters of Ménage, Book 1 on April 19, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below: Their Virgin Captive by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake This book falls into my ‘short story’ section, about 170 e-pages and 14 chapters. It was a bit rushed for me but on the whole better than some I’ve read so I rated it as good. I would have liked a bit more story in the beginning, more details on the characters. This would have explained the almost sudden deflowering of Hannah to me. Also Gavin rapid change into a “Dom” was just unexpected to me. I’m hoping the next one in this series will be a bit longer.
  • Three on April 19, 2012
    star star
My review from Goodreads listed below: Three by Opal Carew This was an okay quickie only 34 e-pages. No real story, more a depiction of a scene between three brothers who are identical and two women who are best friends. One of the women is married to one of the brothers. It got so confusing at times that I was not always sure whose hands and mouths were on whom. Ms Carew is one of my favorite authors but I will stick to her full length novels.
  • Tricked Truths on April 19, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads listed below: Tricked Truth by Beth Kery I don’t usually clarify my star rating but I felt I needed to with this story. I rated it a 2.5 in my head but gave it 3 stars in Goodreads. That extra nudge was simply because it’s a Beth Kery story. I almost always enjoy her stories to a varying degree, from good to very good except this story. Oh...and except Velvet Cataclysm which I didn’t like at all. Her writing style in this book is a bit like poetry in the way she uses her words. Okay maybe not poetry but I don’t know the word to describe it so here is an example. “The amount of incendiary material he’d built up for Grace must have been monumental.” See what I mean? The whole story is written like this, different. Now on to my thoughts about this story. First off Grace is NOT Trick’s mother-in-law. She was married to Trick’s father Evan, so she is his stepmother! Grace is described as his mother-in-law in the Goodreads synopsis and also several times in the story, talk about confusing and not a good start to this book. This story did get a bit better as it unfolded and the characters took shape for me. Trick was an asshat to Grace from the word go. Grace was a strong, assertive woman with everyone but…Trick. For the most part, Grace was Tricks whippy post, figuratively speaking that is—and she let him. That’s the part I disliked most, her hypnotic like acceptance of his treatment. I understood it sure and it was explained at the end but I don’t have to like it though. Then there was the mad dash to the end of the story where explanations’ and secrets were revealed. The ending was just too rushed for me. I needed more closure
  • Breaking Through on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: What a good story written on so few pages. A chance encounter at a dog park between Jason and Olivia leads to dinner and a very hot ‘tasting scene’ that gets to out of hand for Olivia comfort. She’s not use to letting people into her life because she has been let down so often. Jason is patient though and convinces her that being ‘just friends’ without benefits is all he wants…until he wants more. The only thing that confused me in this story was the name of Jason’s sister’s dog…Monster. It was the same name of the dog in Simon Says so at first I though the stories intertwined but they don’t. These short stories gave me a taste of how well Ms Colbert can write now I’m waiting for the long novels please…
  • Strawberry Kisses on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: Mmm…I like strawberries a lot and I liked this sweet story just as much. It was short but all that needed to said or done was done and done well. There was just enough character description and back story to make this an easy and complete read. I’ll definitely be picking up the other 1 night stand books. One delicious read!
  • Eliza Gayle Shifter Bundle on June 16, 2012
    star star
My review from Goodreads below: Featuring Lucas/Kane/Malcom I’ve read other books by Ms Gayle and most were good but this series didn’t do it for me. I finished Lucas and it was okay. Lot’s of jumping around in the story and the dialog was a bit choppy which made it difficult to read. Not much back story on the characters so I had a hard time understanding who hated who and why. Example is the Kira’s mother was mentioned a lot and you go a sense that something happened with her life that was bad but what? This detail made Kira not trust others but I don’t know what happened. Kira’s stepfather also is not explained well either. What was he trying to achieve and why? A lot was made of Kira being a Marine but I didn’t feel that it added anything to the story. I started reading Kane’s story and it was more of the same which made me stop reading. I’m might pick this book up later to continue and finish if off or I might just leave it alone. I dislike not finishing a story especially one I’ve paid dearly for but in this case...
  • Coming Out of Her Shell on June 16, 2012
    star star star star
My review from Goodreads below: I was so looking forward to finding out what happened to this story. I read the first two chapters at the end of Forbidden Fruit and it left me hanging. I thought that was the end…NOT! What a teaser…that’s okay because I immediately went out and purchased the complete though too short story. It was worth all 7 chapters. Susan is a professional woman who works too much. She doesn’t have many outside interests and her love life is non existent. . Susan’s been told she was a ‘cold fish’ and didn’t know how to have fun. She WANTS to change and maybe find a hobby or some other interest besides work so takes time off every Thursday afternoon. It all starts when a new neighbor Eric is introduced at a block party. Eric is F.I.N.E…Fine and Susan is already imagining all sorts of naughty things about Eric. Her first afternoon off started simple enough with a little sunbathing by her pool. A bit of fantasy and a little 'O' later and she realizes that she had a watcher. Oh how Eric watched!!! What a wonderful story. I’m waiting for Ms. Colbert to write a full length novel with the wit and creativity that she exhibited in this story.
  • Cajun Hot on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: This was a hot short story that was easy to read and reaffirmed my high regard for Ms. Black's writing. I loved the dialect, a mixture of English, French and all Cajun chère! My high school French really came in handy with this book;) This was the story of Jacque and Sahara though at the very beginning there was a smidgen of M/F/M with Quint that turned into ‘sceneis interruptus’ HA! My only complaint was that Jacque’s moustache was described so much in this story but the cover was sans moustache… Sahara a photographer gets lost/stuck in the swamp while looking to get a picture of a 'Orchidus clitorius'. Seriously that’s the name of the orchid. She comes across two hunka hunka brothers Jacque and Quint and then as they say 'Laissez les bons temps rouler' and roll they did.
  • Winter of the Wolf (The Wild Hunt Legacy 2) on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: This was a good addition to this series. After reading Hour of the Lion I was so looking forward to Zeb’s story and this book didn’t disappoint me. “Home isn’t a place; it’s people.” This is the quote that describes this book for me and what Zeb, Shay and Bree discovered in this story.
  • Nobody's Hero (Rescue Me Saga #2) on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: The long awaited (by me) story about Adam and Karla. I liked it more than Nobody’s Angel but not as much as I liked the first book Masters at Arms. I think it was all the repetition again that detracted me from enjoying this book fully. It kept repeating the same information a bunch of times. The first chapter was a retelling of the last books, I get the ‘catch up’ but there was no need to repeat it throughout the story…just my opinion. Lots of growing up and ‘do I or don’t Is’ in this story. There was a bit of mystic in this book too which kind of threw me off but sometimes we on the earth plane need a little help from above. Basically what Adam needed to learn was to let go of the past and embrace a second chance at love. God knows we don’t get many of those. He needed to let go of his past and his feelings of failure/anger when his wife died. Adam also needed to get over the age difference between him and Karla especially since an older man/much younger woman is not as taboo in our society as it is the other way around. I applaud him for his hesitancy though, since it is not a relationship that should be gotten into lightly. I didn’t think of him as a perv either since his feeling for Karla didn’t develop until he saw her for the first time when she was an adult of 25. There was also his childhood angst which was revealed in this story that he needed closure on. That closure part was a bit rushed thought. Karla needed to be true to herself and not change her world to accommodate anyone, especially Adam. Sure change is good to a degree, but not when you loose yourself. Who wants someone without a thought or opinion in their head certainly not Adam. Even in a Master/slave relationship you should still be true to yourself right! Lots of steamy sex in this story and some interesting ‘tie-me-ups’.
  • Masters at Arms (Introduction to the Rescue Me Saga) on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: What a great way to start a series. The prequels were all wonderful and showed me how their individual stories and journeys began. This is my first book by this author and I really got a feel for her writing style which I loved. She writes smoothly and the transition from one section to another went seamlessly. Prequel to Adam’s story Nobody’s Hero Adam is just yummy and the way he is described in this section and how he is dealing with the loss of his wife is so touching. Fate has him in the right place at the right time to save a young Karla from danger. This chance encounter intern saves Adam by giving him a reason to go on with his life. Maybe it’s because he is the oldest and closer to my age but I believe I’m going to love his story the most. Prequel to Damian’s story Nobody’s Perfect Damian comes from the poor side of town and has had some hard knocks in his young life. A chance encounter with a beautiful young girl becomes the pivotal change in his life. Savannah is so broken and has given up but when Damian rescues her from a very bad scene she see that not all men are evil. Yep…this story’s going to keep me up all night reading. Prequel to Marc’s story Nobody’s Angel Marc is dealing with issues of responsibility to his family versus what he wants out of life for himself. All I can say is when the opening scene is him turning down the stereo that is playing Bocelli I was hooked. Anyone who listens to Andrea Bocelli has great taste! I can personally attest to the fact that Bocelli in concert is magnificent! I think Marc’s story will be interesting and like with all the others in this series smoking hot! This story then describes how these three prequels intertwined and added more depth to these men and this series. I really enjoyed how it all started and I didn’t feel that they were disjointed but seamless from one to the other. I’ve already purchased Nobody’s Angel and Nobody’s Hero and I’m waiting for Nobody’s Perfect to be available. I recommend reading this book first to truly enjoy and understand this series.

  • Bad to the Bone on June 16, 2012
    star star star
My review from Goodreads below: I went back and forth on this story. Was it okay or good…I think somewhere in between is what I feel fits. This story is a short one and a prequel to Hungry like the Wolf but I didn’t know that when I started reading it. It was a free read and an author I had not read before. Since I’m always on the lookout for new authors it was worth it. I liked the overall writing style which is what made me give it 3 Stars but the story was a bit rushed in the closing which now makes sense since it’s a prequel to another story. I’m going to look up the next book and see if it works for me.

Just a quickie that described a scene being played out between Shawn, Blain and Raylen. There wasn’t much of a back story explained but enough that you knew who the players were and what they were. Keeping that in mind I graded this review based on that and nothing else. I liked it. I’ll look into more by this author
  • The Alien King and I on June 16, 2012
    star star
My review from Goodreads below: This ‘quickie’ was an okay read. The premise of the story is what drew me to pick it up and the fact that it was free however the writing style was a bit to choppy for me. It would have been better if the 20 so odd pages were all about one scene and describing it fully versus trying to fit a story in so few pages. It might have produced a better read for me.

From Goodreads review: What a wonderful story. I thoroughly enjoyed this full length novel at 25 beautiful chapters. This book had a lot of the elements that I enjoy contemporary, historical, time-travel, a little wo-wo stop over in heaven, erotica, a little slap and tickle and ménage M/F/M all rolled into one. This story started off in the year 2010 with Elise getting stood up at her wedding by an asshat. Good riddance I say! A car crash later and she is sent back to the year 1850 in the body of Elizabeth ‘The Beeyatch”! What’s a girl to do but adjust and truthfully claim memory loss. She meets Trey the hunk that Elizabeth behaved horribly to in the past. Now Elisa has to convince him she’s a new woman and deeply sorry for Elizabeth’s past mistakes. First step is to drop kick Elizabeth’s existing asshat fiancé to the curb. Second step is please call me Elisa and not Elizabeth. Elisa travels to Trey’s home in New York and meets Trey’s younger brother Radcliffe ‘Rad’ and things heat up more in all kinds of ways. Rad is a bit into the kink and “He had the face of an angel, but he f**ked like a devil.” There is lots of hot stuff in this story in particular a strip tease preformed by Trey and Rad for Elisa that is so very funny to read. Can Trey and Rad convince Elisa that they can share her? Can Elisa convince them that she is not the Elizabeth of the past and is not going to revert back to her old conniving ways? Does destiny keep adjusting until things or people are where they are meant to be? I recommend reading this story and finding out for yourselves. I’ll be looking for more stories by Ms. Hale.

I liked it and will be reading the next installment. The lessons that Jenny received from Dan were hot and entertaining so the next story should be equally if not more interesting.

Interesting story line…A center for training submissives. I wonder if there will be a series for training Dom’s…hmm. I liked this story. Brie was an engaging character and has enticed me to continue reading the series.

This was a nice quick story about Eliza and her guardian Lord Julius Carlton. “Carlton was in his thirties and quite old.” Thirty is practically ancient to 18 year old Eliza. She thought he would be an overfed and overdressed ugly man. She has already lined up her husband-to-be until her guardian decides to pay an unexpected call on his charges in the country. What she got was far removed from her vision of him. “Carlton was a blade; sharp and hard and well built.” Oh My! Old indeed…LOL Can she appreciate the experience that comes with age you ask? Mmmm
