Biography
First and foremost, I am a writer.
My writing has evolved over the years. When I was in the fifth grade, I dabbled with comics. You should probably be happy you never read "Wilbur the Bouncing Ball," a comic about a basketball. It was atrocious. I still have it somewhere.
I took my first stab writing about music in high school, but really put my love of music into print when I wrote a monthly column about the Dallas-Ft. Worth hip hop scene for Music News Magazine from 1990-1993. Before that, I had written press releases for local rappers (1988-1989)and done some record promotion. I had some local artists played in the hottest clubs in Paris, London and Liverpool. I loved the hip hop scene.
My writing continued in the early 90s with music reviews in community music papers from Long Island, NY to Bismarck, ND and many publications here in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I also wrote some of the first music reviews that ever appeared online. This was before the internet existed.
As my life turned closer toward God, I began writing a weekly devotional and I still send those out on occasion. I worked office jobs before entering ministry and then became a church planter. Our ministry is still active but now my income is derived from other sources such as editing, photography and website design.
I have also been writing children's picture books since 2004. I have come close to selling books to major publishers, but I am still waiting for that elusive sale.
As for books that changed my life, I would put Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne, Organic Church by Neil Cole, and Farmer Brown Shears his Sheep by Teri Sloat on that list.
