About Briona Glen
Mission
Briona Glen Publishing, LLC was developed with the mission of finding, promoting, and developing authors. We realized that there were a number of high quality manuscripts and projects available in the market, waiting for a strong and passionate team to run with them. We are seeking to step in, find those projects, and work with the artists to develop their vision into a high quality book for the discriminating reader.
What we do
Our team of editors and staff offer three fundamental services: editing, promotion, and distribution. At no point is an author required to pay for any of these services. We consider these to be fundamental to the process of preparing a book for publication, and work closely with our author in all steps of the process.
Win/Win Scenario
Briona Glen is concerned with maintaining an atmosphere in which there is a greater commitment to making sure authors are given an equitable share of the profits. We support concepts such as fair trade, especially the concept of “Fairtrade Minimum Price” and the “Fairtrade Premium” for our authors. Our goal is to allow the author to have a sustainable lifestyle from writing, through high royalties. Our minimum royalty is 25% of net to our authors.
"Our merchants and master-manufacturers complain much of the bad effects of high wages in raising the price, and thereby lessening the sale of their goods both at home and abroad. They say nothing concerning the bad effects of high profits. They are silent with regard to the pernicious effects of their own gains. They complain only of those of other people."
- Adam Smith, The Wealth Of Nations Book 1, Chapter 9, Pg 117
Success
As an independent publisher, we must define what success means to us. For us, success will be measured in producing books that we believe in and that we believe will be a benefit to others. We believe writers are artists and need to maintain control of their vision and creativity, and we help our authors to realize and protect their work. Of course, we would also like to make a profit along the way and enable other artists to do so as well. True success for Briona Glen Publishing will be measured in that fine balance of art and commerce.
