Since I have read the book now twice there must be something to it ;) Generally I enjoyed it although the roles are a bit too reliably distirbuted. But if you expect a good and erotic romance you will find whant you need. What irked me ( but that is my personal taste) is that the main character is a bit pollyanna and naive. Maybe it is unjust of me to excpect more from an not nearly 20 year old girl which is whisked away from a guarded childhood, but I would have preferred more interest in the alpha business of her mate. However not every character can be a Mercy Thompson and shouldn't be, since that would also be predictable and ultimately boring. So generally yes, and I guess it speaks for the writer that by now I have read nerly all of her books, but that was the first one.
  • The Keeping on March 08, 2014

This was the second book I read by Nicky Charles and also here the roles are reliable and predictable. What I enjoy so far is that nearly every book has a real action part nearing the end, which really keeps you suspended and mising your sleep. So as with the first: This is entertaining romace as I guess it was inteded to be. A thank you to Nicky Charles for giving us this entertainment for free. Yepp that is great! A big thank you!

  • The Boss on Aug. 30, 2014

At first I was doubious: This typical little girl meets incredible rich guy seemed very cliché and 50 shades were lingering aorund the corner. But the good reviews persuaded me to download it and man, was I hooked! Really stimulating sex scenes, big suprises a good heroine, who is not obviously dumb and stumbling from one avoidable desaster to the next. No despite the mentioned clichè setup this is very good readiung and I am longig for the sequel!

Great characters suspension until the end.
  • Prince of Wolves, Book 1 The Grey Wolves Series on Feb. 08, 2015

I guess I am not the target group of this book, since I am an adult. This is like the sugarfloss version of twilight without vampires. Nice is the good friendship between Jacque, Sen and Sally. I am not sure if it good to talk about "realistic" in a book about werewolves, but what I missed is a bit friction between the characters. Only understanding and friendship between the "good ones" the only one which are causing trouble are the "black hats". Furthermore I didn't like the very conservitive image of the genders. Males are volatile, want to protect the females and the females have to moderate the male temper. Oh myyy... back to the 50ies! Also the image of sex and marriage: It is good that sex is portrayed as something which shouldn't be done lightly. But is it ok to bind yourself for centuries, when you are 17? In this book it is ok to do so provided you are married. So only 2 stars from me. However if you are looking for fantasy for conservative girls you will haev fun. P.S.: Never ever ride a motorcycle in flip flops!

Good story with some unexpected turns and twists. Of course if you tell a freind "I read a detective novel with a lesbian werewolf investigator" ist sounds awful , but the characters fit and the story takes you with it.

As a first book from an author it is a nice read. It is a mix between romantic novel (including explicit adult scenes) and a suspense novel. Elise is given in an arranged marriage and ends up as a stranger in a new werewolf pack. The werewolves in this universe have sped up healing, the power to magically shift at will including clothes (or not ;) ) and some growling. So apart from the shifting quite normal. My critic is the anti-feministic setup. What do I mean by this? If you want to avoid spoilers stop reading here: All women in this book, who work are either portrayed as unpleasant or even turn out to be the villains. Not so secret message: If you want to be more than a housewife, you are probably evil or at east non likeable. Nothing like the independent Mercy from Patricia Briggs! Elise is portrayed as a young woman, nearly still a girl, who has no goals and clue. And except for a paragraph at the end of the book where it is mentioned, that she helps now her mate with the administration tasks, she shows all behaviour to stay guileless and clueless: She rather goes in the kitchen than wanting to know how her new environment works. All decisions are left to the males unquestioned by any woman, while cooking and cleaning is the main task of the women. However this is not so bad, that I haven't read the book a second time. And at least in the follow up books the heroine is a more active and educated character.

This is a collection of similar quite short stories, which mostly have the same storyline. An older but unfailingly good looking man somehow gets to a young, mostly 22 year old bride due to arranged marriage or blackmail. Luckily he is a beast in the bedroom and a master of cunnilingus. I haven't read all, maybe my mistake was to read one after the other so they became a bit boring through repetition also I generally prefer stories with more than 70 000 words, which was not a given here. My impression was, that they each were rather 30 000 words and therefore didn't develop in an interesting manner.
