- Neophyte (Linked #1)
on April 11, 2012
First I want to thank the Author and Goodreads for the opportunity to Read To Review.
Neophyte by Emmalee Aple Synopsis: Addisyn White thought she had her new life, her after life, all figured out. Granted death had not brought her to the pearly white gates, she hadn’t even left Earth. But death had its perks; she got to live forever with her best friend and her assigned Link of Angels, in a beautiful beach house. Even with the changes she was going through to turn her human body into an angelic one, everything seemed pretty easy. Until a gray winged angel comes into her life, then all the secrets and lies her Link had been keeping start crumbling away, exposing a whole new world of dangers she didn’t even know about. Now Addisyn must fill in the blanks before things escalate too far. Will she save her Link? Or will she be buried in their secrets forever?
My Thoughts: I want to start with the cover which I found both beautiful and simple. Just a white feather and elegant script. Neophyte as defined in the dictionary is a beginner, or novice, a person newly converted to a belief. Well, I am converted! I would highly recommend this read. I enjoy all of the questions that remain, am filled with a deep longing for more, and will definitely be on the look out for the next book Rogue. The book actually made me cry, not tear up, but cry. This is always a great sign to me that the characters have been well developed and I have become so sucked in to their world I feel for them. I am a huge fan of paranormal romance and this book was such a pleasant breathe of fresh air from the usual vampire, fae, witch, and wolf stories. If you enjoy this genre then you should read this book. A review would not be complete with out my honesty on the few negatives. Editing.......numerous typos. So much so that I had to re-read sections over just to either understand it or know whom the speaker was supposed to be. At one point during a crucial fight scene a random character name is changed then changes back. You will catch on after awhile though. My only real complaint is, and it may be just me, but the "passwords" created for each other were just annoying. I cringe when the are repeated. I wish they had been something else or used less often. With all of that said I would give it a 3.75 star to 4 star rating!
