I'm an Australian author who likes writing and reading serial science fiction books.
It's often hard to find the time to get through a full novel in a reasonable amount of time. That's what led me towards the serial format. You can read for an hour or two and get a full story, like an episode of a TV show. But still have an overarching story line that extends into the next book.
