Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I have lived in a number of states across the U.S. As a result, I have experienced many sub-cultures within the states. Anyone who has moved or frequently travelled will understand my meaning. Therefore, I have met a number of individuals with some truly unique qualities and flaws. I feel this diversity amongst my experiences has helped me develop a wide variety of interesting, often strange, characters within my writing.
When did you first start writing?
I can hardly remember. After third grade, I was primarily schooled at home. As a result, I was able to quickly finish my curricular activities without waiting on other classmates. This allowed me plenty of extra time to read. I have loved literature from a young age and can still often be found with my nose buried in a book. If I had to specify an age I began truly writing, I would say around fourteen. This was when I first attempted to write a book. It was an attempt which has since been buried and will hopefully never again see the light of day. Nevertheless, I persisted, writing a multitude of short stories, essays and so forth. Finally, here I am today, with a recently published novel.
