Paul Horton

Biography

Paul Horton is a Dot Connector - Extraordinaire, due to being a Hyper-Creative - Asperger-Centric. Throughout history and modern times, among the persons with Asperger's Syndrome (and those speculated to have had it) were Persons of Vision, and Paul is a Social Visionary, with a passion for the subject of Creativity. As he puts it: "I am a conceptual thinker and my mind tends to ponder on a variety of ideas, in particular creative solutions involving issues facing society. Sometimes these ideas involve multiple components that come together in a novel approach to tackle a problem. A strong curiosity drives me to seek out a variety of information and my mind connects the dots leading to insights which may be overlooked by the mainstream observers and commentators of society."

He has been writing in one form or another for 30 years starting with song lyrics & poetry; in recent years commentaries & info-papers. His publishing credits include: three op-ed pieces on the arts in the Detroit Free Press and an op-ed along with a special-section, commentary piece in the Detroit News as well as a number of letters regarding the arts in both papers; and Arts & Entertainment pieces for the Wayne State University student paper for a semester.

He has also written two info-papers on the arts & the Creative Community, one of which was presented to the Detroit City Council. Other writings include a number of packages of ideas on improving the Creative Climate in Detroit as well as a fair number of unpublished commentaries.

His biggest achievement was in 1999 when he wrote a proposal, made a pitch before a panel of judges that resulted in being awarded $50,000 by Absolut Vodka in a competition for ideas that involved art & technology but extenuating circumstances (in part due to AS tendencies) hampered the efforts to implement the idea.
