Agree with other reviewers, the alien is more human than the humans - however the humans are realistic, stumbling along with no clear goal in mind. It's more that the alien is like a heroic human - missing common human faculties, but gifted with super human ones, and goal oriented. However, the action is engaging, and the story is hard to put down. You do get attached to the human characters and want them to grow.
