I liked this short story. I could feel the atmosphere within the Victorian waiting room. This is a well written story, an easy read with interesting characters. The romance is not that central to the story, it hinges upon the Guard's ability to cheer the young woman up. The twist in the end is interesting - a double twist actually. Nicely done and simple in its construction. Well worth the read.

As an ex Banker I loved this short story. It is a bit predictable but I wanted to know what happened. Great plot, interesting details and vivid descriptions places you at the scene. I love short stories and this was well worth the read. Loved the banker character!
