Smashwords Interview

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Eating chocolate. Okay, seriously? I'm usually working at my day job, reading, or helping my daughter with her homework. Those who know me know that I'm not kidding about the chocolate. :-)
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I search online or friends tell me if they've read something they enjoyed. Otherwise, I wait until a book title comes to me in a dream. Really.

  • Self Publishing Success on March 25, 2014

I initially read this book while I was writing my debut novel last year. It was nice to have this information in one place. I have even re-read some parts of the book. Self Publishing Success begins with an introduction on what, exactly, Indie and self-publishing are. I especially enjoyed the book's section 'Is Indie Right For You?'. I think people really need to look inside themselves before deciding and this book lays out what you need to do to get the job done. It can be a daunting endeavor and Mary Rosenblum lays it on the line. She discusses the types of publishers: small presses, subsidy publishers, and legacy. There's information on contracts/rights, promotion and the self-publishing process as a business, including interior and cover design. Self Publishing Success is a quick and easily understandable read. It's organized in such a way that you can quickly find what you're looking for if you want to go back and read sections again.

Books Beads and Baubles is a cute short story. The elderly bookstore owners were vividly portrayed. This is a light mystery and it was entertaining. I've enjoyed all of the short stories by Mary J Hicks.
