Biography

Darlene Lancer, JD, MFT is a marriage and family therapist. She is a relationship expert and author of "Codependency for Dummies." In her private clinical practice, she has treated individuals and couples for over 24 years. For two decades, she's been a consultant and workshop presenter at many addiction rehabilitation facilities. She's a frequent guest speaker on radio and has lectured at colleges, universities, and various organizations, including the California State Bar Association.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, Ms. Lancer had a successful law career. She was a Senior Mediator for the Los Angeles Conciliation Court, where she helped families resolve custody and visitation disputes and domestic violence problems.

Ms. Lancer recounts her own experience with domestic abuse and codependency and eventual recovery in her published memoir, "A Therapist's Secret Shame: Healing from Domestic Abuse, Codependency, and Parental Alienation."
