Dirk Jenkinz

Biography

Dirk Jenkinz is an artist/performance artist. He has performed his work at galleries and theatres in the UK, France, Ireland, Germany and Poland.

He has invented a number of instruments that play random notes before destroying themselves. As he says: 'If music is ephemeral, then so should be the means of its making.'

His proudest creation is a mouth organ covered in sand paper. Should it ever be played, the player will ruin his mouth and never be able to play the mouth organ again, In doing so, he or she will show they are truly willing to suffer for their art.

Dirk's current project is a reworking of Shakespeare's sonnets to make them more accessible to the modern mindset.

A great translation which makes for a smashing read. Papa Ubu is ever pompous arse you've ever met and is as adorable as he is grotesuque. Mr. Whittaker is to be thanked for making this work accessible to us mono-linguistic Anglophones. The fact that he has done it for no personal gain should place him on the fast track to canonisation. All hail Ubu! All hail Whittaker!
