In this Bible study: “God Starts To Get Our Attention” through the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse (World Power Conqueror, Butcher Monster, Miser King, King of Contempt) and seals of Persecution, Nuclear War and Quietness (we are not listening). We also look at the 144,000 sealed, the symbolic meaning of numbers, and dates significant to Jews and Christians. “Study/Discussion Topics” are included.
In this book we look at Revelation chapters 4 and 5. Chapter 4 is the first significant view of heaven in the book of Rev. Chapter 5 is an introduction to the “Sealed Book.” We use key words in these chapters to gather insight from the rest of the Bible. To give us a better understanding of what these chapters mean to us today and perhaps in the future. “Study/Discussion Topics” are included.
This book includes material you are not likely to find anywhere else. At least not until after this book is published! “...blessed are those who hear...and take to heart what is written...because the time is near” Rev 1:3. "The key of David" opens the door to understanding the significance of the transition to a new era in the book of Revelation.
The bad churches in Rev chapter 3 are very similar to many of the active and well-respected churches today! They may have a reputation for being alive with numerous activities, but are actually spiritually dead. Some may be rich, have a long “A list” membership, and say they need nothing. But God says they are pitiful, poor, blind and naked -- spiritually lukewarm; worthless in the eyes of God.
- Ephesus: commended for: deeds, hard work. But you have forsaken your first love!
- Pergamum: Where Satan Has His Throne. Commended for being true to God’s Name and not renouncing their faith. Yet, people teach Balaam and hold to Nicolaitan teachings!
- Thyatira: I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance... But you tolerate a false teacher; called Jezebel.
The "Good Churches" in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 are:
- Smyrna: The Suffering Church is told, "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life."
- Philadelphia: They are praised: for their good deeds; keeping God’s Word; and, not denying His name. "I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut."
Rev 1:11 says, “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.” An individual in each church read the whole letter aloud to the whole congregation. Even today Christians may appraise themselves by these letters.
In this series of books, we look at the book of Revelation in the Bible as events happening during the transition to a new era. We will take to heart the words in Rev 1:3, “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
